He was speaking to college students - but Republicans seem to all have this attitude in regards to the elderly and disabled as well. It transcends college students when you have 39 Iowa Republicans wanting to restrict SNAP food items as well (see previous post about House File 3). His salary as a member of the US House of Representatives is $174,000 with a LOT more in benefits on top of that - such as a deduction on his taxes for living in DC, Stationery expenses, travel, medical, and a whole lot more. Who of us would not trade places with him financially? You can't live on Ramen. The elderly, the disabled, and children who are still growing need better nutrition than that or they will have rotten teeth and bones that break easily.  The Republicans' restrictions on SNAP and the attitude of "Let them eat cake" is not going to help them at the polls. I supported this guy when he first ran. I cannot support him now with him grousing about not having $20,000 to invest in the stock market while telling the poor to eat Ramen. Just sick of this kind of attitude from Republicans. The lack of compassion for the legitimate poor is nauseating. No one who thinks like this should be holding a government position of any kind.
