President Trump Promised no Unrealized Gains Taxes but you've been paying them for YEARS. Property taxes ARE on unrealized gains every time they raise the appraisal and assessment on your property. You should be paying no more property taxes than that of the price you paid for the home. Any more than that is based on unrealized gains. You haven't sold the house yet and you're probably still paying the mortgage. Any increase in property taxes before the sale is on unrealized gains. And to answer Kennedy's question -  no one should be paying taxes on unrealized gains.
